Within the food forest design process, we work step-by-step from an initial sketch to a master plan, a planting plan, and a phasing plan. With these plans in hand, you can realize your food forest over a period of several years.

 

The design process spans multiple contact days, with time in between for reflection and observation on-site. Experience shows that spreading the design phase over several weeks strengthens the final result.

 

A food forest is a living system that requires close collaboration with the manager. Therefore, it is valuable to be intensively involved from the very beginning. We work together through the various stages of the process, during which I am happy to share my experience and knowledge with you.

Roughly speaking, the food forest design process looks like this:
  • Field observation, field inventory, site analysis and inventory of dreams, desires, goals (in depth interview).
  • Determining the character of a food forest in terms of goals and dreams
  • Sketch phase
  • Master plan
  • Planting plan
  • Phasing plan towards implementation
  • Advice on legislation
  • Execution plan

    2. In-depth interview about your desires, needs, and wishes regarding the food forest.
    3. Economic/financial assessment.
  • Sketch phase in co-creation on-site (zoning plan)
  • Detailed Master Plan at scale (additional cost on top of base price)
  • Planting plan to scale and detailed plant list
    1. Clear plan of the crown and shrub layer with cultivars, harvest times...
    2. Planting advice towards the herb layer.
    3. Advice on the best nurseries.
  • Phasing plan towards implementation
  • Practical advice regarding implementation
  • Explanation of plans through video call
  • Travel time included in a radius of 40km
